Institute
for Small Business & Entrepreneurship
28th
National Conference
"ILLUMINATING ENTREPRENEURSHIP
-
the theory and practice of enterprise creation and development"
1-3
November 2005 - Blackpool, UK
The ISBE 2005 Conference theme builds on the renewed emphasis nationally and
internationally on entrepreneurship in small, medium and large
organisations. The diversity within this field and the continuing
emergence of new areas (e.g. social enterprise) presents exciting
challenges to policy makers, practitioners, educators and researchers.
Such developments have been reflected in the recent change of
name and revised mission of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
This Conference
recognises the importance of learning and sharing experiences from varying
perspectives and welcomes contributions that approach the theme from
different points of view.
A
key aim of ISBE 2005 is to extend the process of sharing and engagement to
a wider International Community in all of these areas, recognising that
entrepreneurs now operate on a global stage. Improving understanding of
the contexts, policies and practices will not only inform our support for SMEs
domestically but also prepare them for the challenges in the wider
global stage. Another key aim is to ‘ground’ the Conference
proceedings in practice, encouraging wider participation from the practitioner
community.
The
key themes addressed in the 2005 Conference are:
A
- Advancing
entrepreneurship education, learning and skills
B
- Business start-ups,
incubation, venturing and finance
C
- Community, ethnic,
family, rural and social enterprise
E
