CALL FOR PAPERS

“Creating Opportunities: Entrepreneurship & SME Development in Education, Policy & Research”

The University of Teesside is the “opportunity University” and the theme of the Conference reflects this. The Conference encourages policy makers, researchers and business support professionals to review the evolution of entrepreneurship and small business in today’s complex environments. Policy needs to respond to an increasingly diverse landscape. Entrepreneurship creates diversity from opportunities. How well do we understand the process involved? What level of diversity is needed in support of diversity?

The main issues addressed by the papers and presentations will be:

Angel of the North

n

Entrepreneurship education and learning

n

Support for entrepreneurship and SMEs

n

New enterprise creation and incubation

n

Small business development

Within these main issues are a number of more specialised topics which form the basis of the conference workshops. Potential speakers are asked to categorise their contribution accordingly using the Track Themes & Topics reference numbers (click here).

Contributions invited

A wide range of contributions to the Conference is invited, including academic papers, working papers and presentations on innovations and models of good practice in business support, entrepreneurship education and SME policy.

Contributions can be one of four different types:

• Refereed papers for Journal publication
• Working and summary papers on current research
• Best practice showcase in business support or education
• Symposia on special interests related to the theme

A one-page abstract is the first essential from all contributors in order to facilitate allocation to appropriate tracks and then publication in the Conference Handbook. The Track Leaders will assess each abstract and determine where it can best be scheduled within the programme.

Guidance on abstract content, format and submission is on website www.isba2004.org/topics.

Abstracts should be submitted as MSWord files by e-mail to: abstracts@isba2004.org

with a cover sheet on which the author identifies the proposed topic and type of submission.
